From the Perennial perspective, religions are different human expressions of connecting to the same Divine Reality.
This means that religions are not ultimately separate. If God is the sacred water, quenching humanities deepest thirst, then each religion draws from the same mystical “well” of God.
Each religion can be seen as a unique bucket with which we draw the same ultimate Living Water of God.
As the beloved Sufi mystic Jalāl ad-Dīn Rumi, wrote beautifully:
All religions,All this singing,Is one song. The differences are justIllusion and vanity. The sun’s light looks a little differentOn this wall than it does on that wall. But it’s still one light.
Each religion, a different voice- a harmony of the same Great Song.
Many layers, many octaves and many harmonies.
God is not just one boring, mono-tone song.
From a contemplative perspective, religions are simply offering various harmonies of the same universal principles of peace, compassion and brotherly-sisterly love.
So don’t be afraid of the different religions- they are meant to be enjoyed!
Each religion is a unique way of expressing the love of God and pursuit of Truth.
Enjoy the beautifully diverse ways the Divine is showing up in our world!
